Website Video for Hereford Web-Designers

Date written 03/02/18

VoodooChilli is an independent web-design company based in Hereford. They produce elegant and easy-to-use websites. Our brief was to create a full-screen looping video for the top of their homepage. It would be designed to integrate seamlessly, presenting their creative workflow, technical expertise, and their light and welcoming workspace.

Prep.

Our first step was to go and meet the guys and girls at VoodooChilli. We like to get a feel for the business and understand what our clients want a film to say. It was also important to see the main setting for the video; the lighting conditions and the wider environment in Hereford.

Back at our studio in Ledbury we brainstormed ideas, developed a storyline and storyboarded some of the sequences.

The shoot.

The day of the shoot was fresh and autumnal. We were blessed with wonderful light for some stunning dolly shots of Hereford Cathedral. Our idea was to use the Cathedral as a geographical landmark for the opening sequence. This would signal the location of the VoodooChilli studio – literally a stone’s throw away – and their pride in being Herefordshire-based.

After the short walk to the studio we were greeted by Harry, the Managing Director, and the rest of the team. All were incredibly welcoming – and very generous with the coffee!

We then set up the tripods and the dolly track. The rest of the morning and early afternoon were spent getting lots of lovely tracking, close-up and action shots. It was a really fun shoot with very creative and enthusiastic input from the guys and girls at VoodooChilli.

Film in the can, we headed back to Ledbury to start the edit. A few days later, we had a finished product, which, I’m delighted to say, VoodooChilli were very pleased with. Built into the website, it looks particularly cool – you can check it out here.

The whole project went really smoothly, and we would like to thank VoodooChilli for what was a very rewarding experience.
