Product Photography – Bottles
In terms of product photography, photographing bottles can be a tricky one to master! The reflective nature of glass and the curvature of the bottles means the light has to be managed carefully.
Many people choose to do their bottle photography outside and I think this has a place. If you are going for a lifestyle look, then an in-situ shot of a bottle outside can be just right. It’s still important to pay attention to the reflections as the bottles will pick up everything around them. They may even have a reflection of you!
In the studio, bottles can be made to look slick, sharp and very cool. There are many ways to shoot a bottle. I do a lot of functional product shots of bottles – I’ve probably shot around 2000 bottles so far, mainly for the fantastic Wine Merchants in Ledbury, Hay Wines. But I’ve also produced some more high-end product photography shots of bottles as well, it just depends what’s needed by the client.
If you would like any advice on photographing your bottles, please get in touch via email or phone. And if you would like me to do some product photography of bottles or anything else for you, I can operate on a day rate basis, or a price per shot basis if you only need a small number of shots or have a small budget. Please see my product portfolio page for some examples of my work to date.
